The one where everything changes
Holy smokes there has been so much change in the mission recently it's insane! The past 2 weeks have been a roller coaster of emotions and miracles!
One of the biggest miracles we have seen is that Russ Fish, our friend we have been teaching for the past 4 months got baptized on June 24! Seeing Russ come out of the water as I was one of the witnesses for the baptism, seeing his face all smiley made me so happy because I know he will never regret this choice to join the true church of Jesus Christ.
Russ is also getting married super soon on July 8th! His fiance grew up in the ward here in Eugene actually so they already have a super great relationship in the ward with everyone because they remember Russ's fiance! So it's awesome that they will make this their forever home! As they get ready for their wedding that's gonna be held in their backyard! The bishop in our ward is gonna officiate their wedding so that will be super cool and hopefully, we will be able to show up to the wedding and say hi!
Another thing that happened was that we got a totally new Preach My Gospel! The new PMG is basically all different compared to the new one but it still has awesome information on how we can best share the gospel as missionaries and members. It talks a lot about how even the members need to be doing missionary work too! So it gives a lot of direction as members and as missionaries! Apparently, the goal for the church is to have a PMG in every household by the end of this year! Us missionaries will most likely get them first HA HA but jk jk, we put in our order for the new book just last week so we will see when we get them lol super cool to be a missionary when this change has happened because I can tell my children that I was on the mish when that book came out! As I've been reading it reminds me a lot of the new For The Strength of Youth, its based a lot on the "go by the spirit" way of missionary work which is how it should be but the old PMG talks about how making sure you go through each point in order and each lesson in order, and me being out here for just about 9 months I have never had a lesson go like that, and I know God and the Pres. Nelson and the Apostles have seen that happening more and more, so as the new PMG came out it was really focused on doing what you feel is best and following the spirit more in lessons. Which is how it should be lol.
Something quite big happened last week... WE GOT A NEW MISSION PRESIDENT. We had a zone conference with him and his wife last Wednesday and it was a great meeting about how he is gonna focus on the standards and not the rules that the previous president had.
So it will be crazy to get used to the stuff we can do now! President and Sister Cornelius is from Rexburg, Idaho and they were YSA stake counselors. Professionally, he owns a couple of POINT S Tire shops in Idaho. His sons run each one of them while he is gone! Super nice and funny guy. So glad he is more relatable.
