The one where I leave the best ward
Hey hey everyone!! Hope everyone is having fun with there spring break!
My week has been full of emotions and staying sups busy and what not but I'll do a lil day by day action
Tuesday
I literally can't remember what we did but it was a super busy day and then at 9pm I found out I was leaving the best ward ever and going up to flipping Eugene ughhhh but yeah it was so sad to see that I wanted to stay another but ik i need to be up here in Eugene for a reason so looking forward to it!
Elder Pugmire is gonna be staying (my lil trainee/ my son) I know for a fact he will take care of the ward and help it continue to grow he got an Elder who came out on the mission with me Elder Scott and he's a big time homie so I'm glad my son got a good missionary!!
Wednesday
It was a hussle trying to pack and saying bye to everyone but we were able to go say bye to some of my most favorite people here in Grant Pass like the Southwicks and Sister Pearson and Darren and the Jacobs and the Wades! We helped sister pearson put in some plastic yard curbing so that was fun to do that for her! Gonna miss going to the Southwicks and bringing up wood for them!! And definitely gonna miss Darren because we were able to dunk him in the waters of baptism and he will always be one of the homies!! And ill miss the Jacobs as they are recent converts and are still learning every time we went over there they took us out to Red Robin for my last meal in GP so there just awesome I'm gonna for real miss this yard there's many more families im gonna miss here in the red wood ward but i know there in good hands!!
Right before the night ended we were able to go say bye to Darren and said our last goodbyes for now but I'll be back to visit do we chillin'!!
Thursday
Was movin dayyyy so i got call packed up and threw everything in the car and headed to In & Out with some peeps from the zone and we had a good last laugh before I left, after the burger we went to the transfer spot and i got picked up and the 3 hour car ride to Eugene begins, 3 hours later we were able to get out and i was able to meet my new comp, Elder Lowery so far he's a homie, we just need to build some urgency in the work here. I'm all about urgency sooo it will be a good transfer of growth for this area!
One of the AP said this ward needs some serious help with reactivation and missionary work so i said that ill definitely be down to do that. And this is the ward that President attends so that's fun haha! But anyway we met up with this older member named Sister Irish and helped her clean out her garden. The missionaries before did a lot of work but the momentum was slow and i don't do slow so I've been trying to pick everything up a notch so yeah after the service we had dinner and I just called people till bout 9:30 and that's something else the previous missionaries didn't do was call people they only texted and I'm not a texter missionary but anyways we did that hahaha
Friday
We called a whole bunch of people and set stuff up for the week, after we had a service planned for Brother Furtado and wow he has a crazyyyy story, super nice guy but I'll definitely always remember him. Anyway he's just a homie and is an older ish guy and just needs missionaries to be boys around him bc he's gone through some tough stuff so I just got to know him and stuff like that.
After we had a member message that went super well and she definitely needed it she was going less active but we shared a powerful message and she came to church this week after having a quick dinner and then had another member message keep in mind these all came from calling these people hahaha.
Anyways shared another fire lesson and she was also less active she also came to church this past Sunday later we had a lesson with this dude named Eric he's dating a less active member and we were just chatting it up and talked about a lot of stuff but because he explained he likes music we gonna invite him to the Lamb of God concert this upcoming week bc that's going on here on 14 of April so W family moment because they took me to the Lamb of God concert back home and I know his guy Eric would think it's sick!! After that long lesson that also came from calling... we got home at like 10 and I dropped.
Saturday
Was also a grind as well holy cow woke up and went to our district council meetings and after that we did some more calling and weekly planning for this upcoming week after we had a good lesson with this member who is struggling with the word of wisdom stuff but she still came to church so thats good but anyways after that more calls and went finding in the hills of Eugene and holy how there are some sick houses
Sunday
Church 9am wooo we helped one of the YW with her lesson for the "come follow me" and it went well, also something to get used to is the lack of youth for so sad in the ward.
But before church, we were standing greeting people, and President walked in because this is his ward he goes to lol he pulled me aside leaned into my ear, and said, "This ward needs some serious help!" I'm like trust me President I got you.
Then after the church meetings, President said like this is the most amount of people I've seen here keep up the good work!
After church, we took over the sacrament to a less active that lives right next to the church she's older and just doesn't come to church but she takes the sacrament she just doesn't have a ride and I like come on people ughhh lets get her to freaking church anyways it was good being able to give her the sacrament, but she needs to come to church. Anyway after had lunch really quick and after helping this less active member garden talked to him about some random questions. But we will get him to come to church next week. After we were able to get into the 2nd counselor of the bishopric the Gouge family and there absolutely dawgs!! Shared a message with them and it went longer than we wanted lol but it was a good discussion.
Overall it's been a good but hard first week trying to get the ball moving! We should have a baptism on the 23 of April so thats gonna be sick!
I'm definitely gonna miss Grants Pass, but this ward and area definitely need to be picked up.
Love you guys and hope you have a good Easter week!! See yaaa
