The one where we get Arabic copies of the Book of Mormon
Its been 2 weeks since I sent an email soooo theres gonna be a day by day but some days will be longer than others hahah
Hope everyone had a good week!!
Tuesday 5th March
Had a busy morning calling members and weekly planning! In the evening we had dinner with the Conrads and it was fire as always later that night we had the first restoration devotional in Grant Pass and holy cow it was such a great turnout!!
The Restoration Devotional is given by President Cornelius and the 6 assistants basically give a lesson/lecture on the Restoration of the Church, and wow they did such a fire job! Definitely very powerful and the focus is to have members invite their non-member friends and a place where the missionaries can bring their investigators to learn more and to feel the Spirit! Other zones in the mission only had like 90 people total and Grants Pass alone had like 237!! making big moves!!
Wednesday 6th March
We were able to fill out Darren's baptismal form and basically make him an official member so that was dope!! And we were able to give all the members that participated in the baptism program a handwritten letter so sick to do!! Just trying to have members trust the missionaries and that's one way to do it hahah
Thursday 7th March
We called a whole bunch of peeps and then knocked on some doors, nothing better than a lil door knocking. After we had dinner with the Lambson's and we went over Darren's house and watched the whole restoration movie with him and his mom they had quite a few questions but we were able to answer them so that was hype!
Friday 8th March
We had our normal missionary meetings that morning and after we had fire lesson with one our friends about prayer and our member Sister Huntsman that came she did a fire job just explaining and just helping her get the point of why we pray hahah right after that we had a lesson over zoom with a member thats allergic to like any smells so that was interesting but had a good discussion! After that, we went over the Craig Nelson's house and he taught us some deep doc hahah but it was a good lil lesson he taught us! He likes giving lectures to missionaries and I learn something every time so we are always down haha
Saturday 9th March
We had a good member lesson going over the "Come Follow Me" for that week, after we had a solid lesson with some recent converts the Jacob's and we had a lesson on how to pray again and why we do it! After that, we had dinner with the Tanners and after that, we had the adult session of Stake Conference and that went well!!
Sunday 10th March (17 months)
We had Stake Conference and holy it was packed in the stake center. After we were able to teach this refugee family that just moved in and it was such a good learning experience trying to teach Muslims and try to figure out there beliefs!
A crazy lil "Praise the Lord" moment was when my dad was able to call and find 4 Arabic copies of the Book of Mormon in the Salt Lake distribution center. Miracle there were only a total of 4 available for purchase, the same number in this family! Such a crazy moment and then i explained that to the family they were like wow that's amazing "I read book" they have decent English understanding but sometimes they do not know the words and they just nod their heads and say yes yes it's funny bc that exactly how I act when someone is speaking Spanish to me just nod and say yes.
But over a great lesson and taught them the Restoration and we were able to invite them to read the Book of Mormon!! Wooo hopefully they start reading it! After that, we had dinner with the Chamber's and called it a night, after that 2-hour lesson with the refugee family we so freaking tired.
Monday 11th March
Welp this wasn't our p day so it was just a normal work day but we basically just did service the whole day for non-members we helped this one chick who wanted us to move her stuff out of her apartment into her new apartment we did that for bout 3 hours.
After wecleaned our old apartment and the housing coordinator was very pleased ig bc they literally didn't have to do anything because the night before we cleaned it till like 9 so it was fun haha then they took us to Applebees, the sisters came bc they were getting a new car.
Tuesday 12th March
In the morning we helped a local church move some fridges in their gym and after we got our teeth cleaned by a dentist that's a member and the hygienist said I got 0 cavities so that's hype!! After that, we were able to have a lesson with a less active couple and we were able to get to know them and help them feel the spirit. Because I love convincing that less actives that they need to come to church as we were walking out I said to them "Are we gonna see you Sunday??" And there like uhhh we got get up early enough and I'm like uhhhh do you know what time church is at and there like oh shoot we don't and i go uhh well is at 12 so you should come hahah. They were like ehhhh maybe I'm like bruhhh come on. After that, we had a fire dinner with the Quists! Later that night we have another teaching from brother Craig Nelson!
Wednesday 13th March
We were in service clothes literally all day we went to the Southwick household and moved some wood and after we helped the Jacob family lay a brick path and ill say I laid a pretty freaking nice path hahah but after that we put together this day bed thingy in her front room so wack but it was fun I guess, a good day full of service and not being in a tie all day was nice
Thursday 14th March
This was our p day and we went to the Medford Temple and did a session there and it was sick. It was good to be in one of my past areas again! After the Temple we played ultimate Frisby from like 4-7 pm so that was lit. Good day fr fr
Friday 15th March
Had our normal missionary meetings that happen every friday hahah it being the last district council of the transfer we had a hype meeting and Elder Pugmire graduated new missionary training so that was fun hahah. After that we had more meetings over zoom with all the missionaries in there 2nd transfer and President and the 6 aps guided the discussion, after that we helped move a washing machine into one of our Bishop's houses on his property and it was actually for the new refugee family that just moved in! So it was good to say hi to them again!
After we had some dinner this Sister Pearson so that was fun!
Saturday 16th March
In the morning we had some time to go throw the football around with Darren and we were able to talk to him about how he feels bout being baptized! And he said it's going well and said he feels good! It's been bout 70 and sunny here for the past couple of days so thats been so nice!!
After that, we hurried and got ready to go to a funeral in late afternoon and it was for Sister Kay Watts, so sad to see her pass away so quickly, I remember meeting her and shaking her hand a couple times at church when it was November around Thanksgiving! She was an organized person I guess and she was so organized she planned her whole funeral!!
I hope that's me one day just so organized I can plan my own funeral sounds sick haha but over all great service and we are glad we went! Pls pray for all the extended family and Brother Watts as they continue to go through this hard time in life.
After that, we had dinner with the Robinsons and called some peeps and called it a night.
Sunday 17th March
Went to ward council and then the ward missionary meeting and then church but before church started this lil sweet old lady came around and put pink flowers from her garden on our suits! Shes so nice!! But after we wanted to go over to the new refugee families house to teach them but we found out in ward council that they are sicker than dawgs so that's a rip and we didn't end up going over especially with transfers being this week!
But we had dinner with our Bishop and his family in the first time since i been here i promise i think the bishop likes me he said the calender was always full on Sundays but they fed us some good food and after we went over to Darren's house and we did a lil object lesson with them using pepper and water and a plate and soap. I'm not gonna explain how we did it but it was a good way to explain the Atonement bc the soap pushed the pepper to the edge of the water so that was fun and hopefully it was not our last goodbyes for that kid I hope i stay another 6 weeks
Monday 18th March,
