Elder Zach Fillmore

Hey Hey this past week has been crazy. If you read my last email and guessed, GOING, you were right. I have been transferred to Central Point, OR and finally got out of Santa Clara after 6 whole months of serving there.  I am now in the Central Point Zone and my ward is the Medford 3rd though kinda confusing haha!    But a couple of days before pday last week, President called me over Zoom and we had a great discussion about mission leadership. He wants to see me continue to progress and to serve and lead in this new area.  I am now a follow-up trainer to a new missionary, Elder Cheketts, who has only been out for 7 weeks. President said that this would be somewhat of a big task given that this new missionary had a rough start in the mission and is very introverted, not a big talker.  When he said that I got super nervous but it also made me excited to train and to be a great example for this new Elder. What uppppp! These past two weeks have been crazy hot! The temps have been over 100+ and last Monday got up to 108°. Luckily that day was our p-day so we just all stayed inside at the Stake Center playing volleyball and basketball.  It was so hard tho to get out and do the work, especially on bikes in the heat.  It's extremely dry so it was not too bad to be outside. The humidity levels were around 20% and that's exactly what Utah is normally at, so it felt like I was right at home just on a bike. But the following week was from 105 to 98 the high, so it was pretty toasty biking from lessons to our dinners. We got through it and now this upcoming week the high for Eugene Oregon is 85 just about the entire week so that will be super nice and looking forward to it. The wildfires are raging. The massive Bedrock Fire in the Willamette Forest east of Eugene is huge and the smoke, wow the smoke. That combined with the heat also made it pretty sucky to be outside and the wind keeps c...

Helloooo I completely forgot how much time flies by when I don't write an email hahah. It's crazy that we are a week into August, summer is coming to an end! It's still kinda hot here, it's around 90+ just bout every day, and living in a two-level apartment makes for very hot nights when trying to sleep. Super glad we have a lot of fans haha. Tho I will take our temps over what's at home in Utah.  A couple of days after my birthday, we went to visit some less active members and on the way, we stopped at this super cool spot where there are big trees on both sides of the road. It's kind of one of those spots where missionaries take pics in the middle of the road! It just happened to be on our way that day.   Later that evening, we go to the gas station because I had to go to the bathroom hahaha and my companion, Elder Larson starts talking to the checkout person.
